great customer service and honest pricing.
My regular transmission mechanic was booked for weeks and I needed a transmission service for my scion xb, while searching yelp I came across Quality Transmission and gave them a call for a quote. I was happy with the quote so figured give them a try since the yelp reviews were excellent , took my xb in and started talking story with the owner, myself being kind of a wrench head could tell that he knew his stuff and took pride in his work and shop which is an excellent trait that is hard to find in a lot of mechanics these days. He explained to me what was going to be done and should only take an hour. After an hour the work was done and I was on my way. Thank you for your great work and for sure I am a repeat customer in the future. If you need an all around mechanic or looking for a regular mechanic to maintain your vehicle, or your regular mechanic can't see you this is the guy to come too.
I came to see Manjeet at Quality Transmission based on a referral from my auto shop who I trust very much. Turns out my 2007 Saturn has an internal transmission problem unfortunately. When I walked in, Manjeet immediately greeted me and took my car for a drive to assess. Unfortunately, due to busy traffic at the time, he was not able to get a good feel for the problem. I came back a day later and dropped it off for the morning, where he once again took it out for a spin and lifted it inside of his shop for a thorough inspection. Unfortunately he was not able to find a fix at the surface level and diagnosed it with an internal problem, just like my original auto shop did. Manjeet was very honest and easy to communicate with in describing the problem and my options. At the time, I am still assessing whether to proceed with the repairs, or consider getting a new vehicle. Should I decide to proceed with the repairs, I feel comfortable that quality transmission will give me an excellent repair job at a reasonable price. If you have transmission issues or get a referral to Quality transmission, I highly recommend you speak with manjeet. To top everything off, he didn't even charge me anything the two times I brought the car to him for diagnosis! Great and honest guy.
Manjeet is polite, considerate, professional, no doubt good qualities to possess as a human being and a mechanic. There's another quality that really sets him apart -- his HONESTY -- and that's a priceless quality that is rare in this transmission sub-niche of the auto mechanic world.
If you ever have a transmission issue, do yourself a big favor and give Manjeet a call.
Quality Transmission is the bomb! If you want an honest man to work on your car, take it to Manjeet Bains. My 05 Toyota Corolla's engine check light came on and the code was P0741, Torque Converter Clutch stuck off. I did some research on the internet to find out what the code means, what the Torque Converter Clutch does and what could cause it to be "stuck off." Not knowing if the car could be driven very far, I looked for a shop near Waianae. On the phone, without even seeing the car, a shop in Wapahu quoted me $4,000 for a new transmission and computer-- "It's what Toyota recommends and the dealer will charge "$6,000." Next closest shop was in Waipio. The people there are very nice, their website is very reassuring and promises an explanation of what is wrong and fair prices, so I was comfortable leaving it overnight for diagnosis. Next morning, the nice man called and said yes, you have code PO741 and your transmission needs to be rebuilt. The quote: $3,500 and a week at the shop. Did not say if there was a short in the wiring, wiring was loose, the solenoid needed replacing or if the computer was faulty. I agreed, then thought it through, and called to say never mind, I'll pick up the car. I called an honest mechanic in Kapahulu whose shop is near Rainbow Drive-In. He doesn't repair transmissions, but his friend Manjeet in Kalihi does. Called and explained what happened, how the car is running, etc. He said it's either the solenoid or computer, and gave me ball-park quotes. Took the car in and after he cleared the check engine light, he drove it around Kalihi while I sat next to him and listened as he explained how the transmission works. The light did not go back on and he suggested I could bring it back when it did. It was OK to drive the car although gas mileage might go down. I decided to take care of it then and the computer was replaced before the end of the next day-- there was nothing wrong with the transmission, it didn't need to be rebuilt or replaced. The car drives better than when I bought it, goes smoothly from gear to gear and accelerates faster. All that, at several thousand dollars less than what the other mechanics quoted. It made my day to know there are still hardworking, honest people doing business on Oahu.
After talking with the owner several times over the phone, I was immediately impressed with his knowledge and sincerity. I had my Jeep towed to his shop for repairs and they did an excellent job replacing my clutch. 5 star outfit, the best shop I've done business with in Honolulu. Thank you guys and keep up the good work!
All you ladies and gentlemen that don't like to get ripped off by mechanics you don't know. THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO TO! If you don't believe me call them and ask questions. You will get nothing but honesty here. This guy saved me thousands of dollars when I got a lot of quotes a lot higher. When I came to pick up my car he even topped off all my fluids. Then today I got a nice post card in the mail from the company and it reminded me that I needed to Yelp this place. I've never had service like this before in all my peice of crap cars I've driven. P.s I am a female. So all you females. Don't be intimidated by other mechanics that take advantage of our lack of car problem knowledge and call this guy. I have found my forever mechanic!!! Thank you Quality transmission.
After waiting for 45min to have my truck looked at, it took 5 sec to diagnose and they were able to work with me to have water pump changed. It was their busiest times (3:30p on a Friday) and also suggested I go elsewhere. There were 2 customers ahead of me and that "sound" under the hood was too ominous for me to drive any further.
Once Manjeet looked at it, he also stated that his supply guy was closed already. It was 4:24p. We both got on the horn with any and everyone we knew and O'Reilly saved the day [I also reviewed them]. They not only changed my water pump but also broke it down muppet style to me on the good-to-know stuff. They saved not only my truck, but our lives (for sure).
No bullsh*t here! I brought my car in to my other mechanic who said, I'm not too familiar but will refer you to a friend of mine who deals with your problem area.
Manjeet (yes, that is his name) is a terrific and excellent no bs kind of guy. He was able to diagnose my car, get it back to terrific working order in a lot less time than one would have "assumed".
I'd encourage all of you to bring your transmission related trouble areas to this guy.
He will give you details to the t so if you have questions do not hesitate to ask him, he always has service with a smile!
Most honest and best auto experience ive had on Oahu. Majib is wonderful. This place has been the only shop that ive visited in Hawaii that i walked away feeling good.
